Wonderful!
Values for today from a tale of 1627Young Samuel Eaton (a historical character) is looking forward to his first chance to help his father bring in the crops. He finds the work incredibly hard, and the coarse grain raises bad blisters on his hands. But he perseveres, and at the end of the day when his father tells him "you did a man's work today, Samuel," we feel his pride.
Masterfully written, beautifully photographed, this is a gem in every way.
An excellent book for learning about life as a pilgrim boy!

Creative, challenging and accessibleOne of Dr. Blair's gifts as a teacher is her skill at synthesizing information and placing it within understandable frameworks. In this book, she creates a synthesis of several sub-disciplines of theology and education, from which she builds a very useable framework for wholistic Bible study that balances intellect and creativity, tradition and innovation. And she does this all in a very compelling way: using imaginative metaphors but without employing unnecessary jargon or needlessly obscure terminology. The result is a very useful and inspiring guide for teaching, evaluating curriculum, and developing one's own methods and techniques to lead adult learners in listening to, reflecting on, and responding to the Word of God.
Very highly recommended, invaluable reading

Paleolithic Diet in Moderation
A prescription for living based on our evolutionary past. The book's main theme is that humans today are genetically little different from our hunting and gathering ancestors. The agricultural revolution some 10,000 years ago and the industrial revolution some 200 years ago radically changed our relationship with the Earth. The authors marshall evidence that much degenerative disease can be attributed to our essentially pre-agricultural bodies being unable to adapt to post-agricultural and post-industrial conditions.
Both the Zone books by Dr.Barry Sears and Protein Power by the Eades list The Paleolithic Prescription as a reference. The principal focus of the book is nutrition but the authors also contrast the relationship between the sexes that occurred when we forsook our evolutionary heritage.
The book is not based on conjecture.A handfull of hunting and gathering peoples still exist on our planet.Extensive anthropological observations as well as fossil evidence provide convincing evidence.
The authors do not deny the merits of modern medicene. They feel we can apply the lessons of past life ways and enjoy optimal health in the best of both worlds.I would like to ask the authors if the lowering of the infant mortality rate through the conquest of infectious disease [with its subsequent deterioration of the gene pool] is in the planet's best interests in the long run.
This is a profoundly important book.I rank it among the top 5 most influential books of my life. It is essential reading for anyone caring about preventing degenerative health problems:cancer,cardio-vascular,asthma,arthritis,etc.

A Legendary Hero
A must for amy Western library: best bio of western sheriff.About 1955 I tolked to a fellow who was in the movie businiess, and I mentioned this book to him. He was thoroughly familiar with it and told me that various interests had been trying for years to buy the rights to it, but the family refused to sell it. What a classic it would make!!!
Writing the same review for the other two in this trilogy. Excellent all!
